Comments & ID Thoughts
I am trying to figure out what type of spider this is. I thought it was a banana spider but I have other folks saying it is an orb weaver. Any insight?

Trichonephila clavipes, Both common names are correct. We use “Golden Silk Orbweaver” for the common name. Check out her yellow “golden” silk. The coloration comes from components of her diet. She has an orb ( circle) web that is sticky circle threads and strong straight-line threads. It is effective for halting a large flying or jumping insect without tearing. The largest species of the Orbweaver spiders ( not in USA) can catch small birds with their strong webs.
