At first glance I though it may have been a large wolf spider, but the shape of the head is too square for that. Upon some online searching I thought it could be a fishing spider since it was found on a plant by the creek, but again, the heat seems to square/ tall. Dark in color, no light colored stripes or spots. Leg span appeared like it would be about 4” uncurled
