Please help identify this spider for my 8 yr old. She loves it like a pet lol!
An orb weaver, Araneidae family.
This gal is called a cat faced spider. Araneus gemmoides species.
Although your 8 YO may try to handle these, they do prefer to be left alone.

A lot of children like orb weavers, give them names, sometimes toss a bug into the web and watch them.
