The markings on the abdomen do look similar but the color and size from what I read is different. This was a big spider and was very dark . Perhaps you’re right since I don’t know much about spiders
If the spider can sit on two extended fingers, it is most likely a hobo spider.
I had a male giant house spider in my hand, covered the whole palm of my hand.
Not sure bit this was a big spider in my garage

Perhaps this is a giant house spider. They can easily get 3 times the legspan as the hobo and look so similar you have to know these spiders to tell them apart.
I don’t recall seeing one this dark.

BTW, the spider in the tray was caught at my sisters place just west of Spokane.
