Comments & ID Thoughts

Could this be related to the European Garden Spider? It looks different than the images I've seen but it's the only one I've seen listed known in the Pacific Northwest. It is about a foot from my front door.

I think it could be….just with an atypical pattern…missing it’s cross…but orb weavers are so variable ….https://bugguide.net/node/view/337870

Thanks Nod! That’s a perfect example. Dark Sky, North America has many species of all life forms from Europe. This one is a Cross Orbweaver in USA, European Orbweaver….I guess in Europe. It’s the same species. This is how our site is able to attempt Worldwide identifications, many species are cosmopolitan. That makes it easier for our Worldwide volunteers.
