This is a really nice picture of an orb weaver – The European garden spider – Araneus diadematus. They seem to be doing particularly well in Ireland this year. I am seeing lots of them about.
Thanks! Are they poisonous? I have no knowledge of spiders but was curious and found this site
All spiders have venom and any spider is capable of biting. But this spider is not at all aggressive. You would want to seriously bother it to get it to bite you. Even then the bite would be no worse than a bee or wasp sting.
