This is a tailless whip scorpion or whip spider. They are not spiders or scorpions though. They are a separate group of arachnids in the order Amblypygi. There is a chance your one might be this one…https://www.inaturalist.org/taxa/627042-Paraphrynus-carolynae

I love these little guys, used to play with them as a kid. Haven’t found one in decades.

Where are you Nod ? These are all over SW US, Texas, Florida.
Term ‘play with’ means catch them by hand, get them to try grabbing a finger with those spined pedipalps.
The LONG first pair of legs are like feelers and delicate.
