Looks like cyriococus Elegans, but that species is limited to Venezuela and Trinidad and Tobago according to the info I could dig up. Thus specimen was seen a little south of the Amazon River in Para state, Brazil at 2.526S, 54.944 W. Any help identifying this spider is greatly appreciated.

I do think this is cyriococus Elegans, one of the dwarf tarantulas.
I ran the location through inaturalist and doesn’t look like any specimens recorded.
A hitchhiker or wayward pet would be my conclusion.
Thanks for your response BugmanDan. Due to the rural setting this specimen was observed in, I can’t imagine this spider hitchhiking to anywhere nearby, and nobody here keeps spiders as pets – the jungle is literally already crawling with them. I’ll be having a look around upriver with camera at the ready later this week for more of these incredible, beautiful C. Elegans.
Update: I’m think the specimen is C. fasciatus. This fits with known distribution close to the Amazon River. Thanks again for the help .
Excellent, keep us posted on any finds.
