A running crab spider. Family Philodromidae Family Philodromidae – Running Crab Spiders – BugGuide.Net
Hi Dan. I am pretty sure this is a six eyed sand spider…Sicarius rugosus. It has knobbly knees and rough looking femora. https://ecuador.inaturalist.org/taxa/826066-Sicarius-rugosus/browse_photos
You may be on to something. I overlooked those knees and that abdomen doesn’t quite fit. TNX
It’s an odd looking spider isn’t it. I think it’s a first for the site.
Only place I have seen them is videos of them covering themselves with sand.
It’s new! I added the genus and species to the site. For now I just do bare-bones additions for new spiders, the descriptions can be added later. If anyone wants to do write-ups I can cut and paste the info into the pages. 🙂
Excellent, every spider counts.
