With females, usually where they make their webs (cracks,crevices) they spend their life there. Males, when mateure will wander looking for mates.
Sexual dimorphism, they look a lot different, often mistaken for recluse spiders.

It’s large to me. Good to know harmless. Their all over the house we just purchased. The one in the photo was crawling around my daughters bed.
