Found in the basement in Colorado Springs, CO. Ran picture through some identifiers and the auto identifications kept flagging mouse spider (which seems wrong sine those are native to Europe). Size curled up is smaller the head of my pinky. Main concern is if this is a recluse, sadly was already dead so could not get a better frontal picture.
This is definitely not a recluse. The shape of the body and legs are wrong.
You are right that you are outside the range for the mouse spider…although it has been introduced to the US..it seems to be confined to a few states on the eastern seaboard….my guess is that it is a little sac spider as you have described it as small…..its hard to be sure of a definite ID though without seeing the eyes…
