These are a tropical huntsman and pandemic, found in all tropic regions. They are fast if spooked making catching by hand a challenge. They are kept like pets, welcome in multitudes of homes. I had one just like him that lived in my room most of a season. That was in south Miami bach Florida. Great moth and roach catchers, even in total dark. There is even a facebook australian huntsman group. In Hawaii, they are called cane spiders and folks build little hidy huts for them in cane fields.
