Funnel spider is my guess...This spider was shiny and black. My wife captured it under a bowl outside in southern Louisiana. When I lifted the bowl is legs were in the air in the strike position, so without thinking I smashed it. This is the best picture I could get after that.

not a funnel web. either a trap door spider or since its fangs are fairly large compared to the body, it could be a purse web spider but both are non-venomous and harmless.
