This appears to be a Orchard Orb Weaver Spider; it's web is right next to my screen door leading to our screened porch and a large Red Oak Tree. I live just outside Peletier, NC on the White Oak River Basin, but my street address is for Swansboro which is on the other side of the river from us and in another county.
