Comments & ID Thoughts

Thinking black widow but didn't get a look at underside. Have alot under house and need to know what I'm getting into before going under for work.

https://bugguide.net/node/view/889023 I think it is Steatoda grandis, which is in the same family as Black Widows. It has vastly weaker venom and isn’t medically significant. It’s one of the False Widows. It’s only found in the northwest area in US. They can bite in self-defense if handled roughly, it’s rare. I have many False Widows in my house and haven’t been bitten ( and I have handled them). The link is to more info on a site that has been doing this longer than we have. Thanks for asking!
