Northern Black Widow
We found 2 inside and 3 outside. Outside were males, inside were females.

We found 5 in total so far, spaced across a few weeks. 2 females inside, 3 males outside. This is one of the males. One was in a shoe outside, two were found under the overhang of a step. Inside, both females were found near each other in a bathroom behind the trash can. Not loving it as it was next to our baby’s room. Relatively certain these are northern black widows. That’s a surprise! I didn’t realize there are Black Widows that far north on the East Coast. I have lots of spiders wandering around due to the little heat wave. We don’t recommend pesticides, they don’t work well on spiders and are risky with a baby. Double-sided pest tape works well to block areas from crawling bugs. It can be used around crib legs and window sills and wall/floor junctions. Another option is indoor glue traps. Check the window and door frames and door sweeps for gaps. Check for egg sacs.
