Comments & ID Thoughts

This fellow lives in my wire chicken coop. He/she is approx 1.5 inches in diameter. As a kid we called them “fruit spiders” but I think that was wrong. I can’t find any images with spiders with matching stripey legs. Thanks for any help!

black and yellow garden spider (argiope aurantia). don’t worry, they don’t tend to bite unprovoked and their venom isn’t dangerous for humans
