This is the same spider as the other one I submitted on June 25,2024. I'm pretty sure that it's an orb weaver. What type, I'm unsure of. It is on a large rose that is about the size of a large human palm. It did have a web spun, but was damaged by water spray. I've seen it for several days now. It hides up inside one of the roses.

I originally Idenfied her as Araneus gemma, but changed my mind when I saw her markings in the other photo. Here’s more info https://bugguide.net/node/view/72653
I was just searching on Bug Guide and I believe I might have found it. Araneus illaudatus. I believe this is the web site: https://bugguide.net/node/view/326401/bgimage. There are several images that look similar.
It could be but A. gemmoides and A illaudatus are so similar that bugguide has a combined page for some spiders. Where they can’t tell the difference….your spider has such a thick noticeable white line though I think it might be A. gemmoides…..look at this pic and see what you think….it really is a guessing game though… orb weavers are very variable

Are you certain this isn’t Araneus gemmoides…bugguide mentions a “fine white line crossed by two shallow white Vs on the anterior of the abdomen” for this species..

I haven’t been able to find any defining characteristics for A. Andrewsi. Am I missing something.
I’m unsure where the A. Andrewsi came from. I didn’t have any genus listed.
Also, she was not in retreat. She was rather unhappy and standing her ground because I had just sprayed the rose she was in.
