Comments & ID Thoughts

Spider was located in a messy web between two pots on my front step. Size was between 0.25”-0.5” in length. I witnessed an adult black widow in this location 8 months prior. I have witnessed adult brown widows on the adjacent wall of the home. This appears to be a juvenile of one of those species. Any help would be appreciated.

I think it’s the underside of a Brown Widow from the pale bands on the legs and white markings that go from the sides to the underside. The egg sacks of the two kinds of Widows look very different ( convient!) Brown Widow egg sacs remind me of lemon meringue cookies with extra little pointy things. They’re kinda spiky. Black Widow egg sacs don’t have the sacs. Please move the egg sacs outdoors. The Black Widows are native. The Brown Widows are introduced.
