They are joro spiders…Trichonephila clavata male and female
https://bugguide.net/node/view/1046312 They’re spreading. This is our first photo from Tennessee. Jorō Spiders were accidentally introduced to Georgia on a tractor trailer carrying a product shipped from Asia. Research is underway to determine if they are harmful to the ecosystem or if they are naturalizing as an introduced but harmless species. They might even be beneficial. I don’t know if there are any conclusions yet. Their venom is not a medically significant risk to people. This is a nice photo of a mating pair and their webs. The big one is the female. 🙂
