Lived in a heavily wooded area ~30 miles southeast of Baltimore. Heavy spider infestation in carpeted basement in a 16 year old home. This spider looked different and was found on a bathroom wall on second floor.

This is a Cellar Spider in family Pholcidae. It’s possible that you have more than one species of Cellar Spider in your house. This one might have come in from outdoors. They’re a syanthropic species, well adapted to living around humans and our buildings. I have them in every room, the cellar, and the exterior of my house. They’re very good at catching bugs. If you have a lot of them – they’re eating insects and/or other spiders. They don’t bite humans.
