@micah2419 She’s definitely a Cobweb Spider. Their markings look like crumpled gold or silver foil under a plastic dome. The Widow spiders have opaque markings. I have a lot of this species in my house, I recommend them or the indoors. They aren’t dangerous, avoid people, and can catch and eat many kinds of bugs that get into a house. They might seek water from splash droplets near a sink in dry seasons. I have a rock on the windowsill over my kitchen sink where I put drops of water for my Cobweb Spiders to drink.
They are pretty little things…they are present in the UK but we don’t have them here in Ireland sadly
The Steatoda spp. in Ireland seem to be more adaptable and possibly able to kill this species. As far as I know, S. grossa can kill any Therid. The other Steatoda app markings aren’t as glittery as S. triangulosa. They’re gorgeous with a flashlight held close to them in the darkness. So are Leucauge venusta. You C. conica added a species to our Ireland photos. I have no idea what’s going on with the plan to go North American only on this site. I wasn’t consulted. I want to keep it the way it is.
Me too. I will really miss it if it goes USA only.
