hmm, you might be right. that’s what i thought at first too but i couldn’t find a picture of one with similar patterning. the photo you attached does seem to have the same patterning – strange that this one is so yellow though – although looking at other photos online maybe this colour is typical. thank you!
I am only guessing here as I can’t see the front of your spider….but I think it is an elderly female. Her? abdomen looks a little lumpy… like it may be shrunken after laying
eggs. …after females shrink their the original colour can become more intense

She does look like Araneus marmoreus var. pyramidatus. I didn’t know they are Italy. In North America the variant is mostly found in Canada and the Northern US states.
