I have no idea what kind of spider this is. there were two hanging out together. one looked like a drab gray spider, the other looked half-shell crab with the coloring of the shell part being whitish and red.
they emerged at night to do their hunting & disappeared during daylight hours. they were located in my carport & hung from webs. the crab one seemed to keep a more cated-for web; the other one (who seemed pretty beat up maybe older) appeared to roam rather than staying on the web to catch prey.i assume they are the same type of spider? differentiated by being male & female? purely guessing. would surely appreciate any help in id-ing.

I think this is another elderly Neoscona crucifera…I don’t know which gender it is. It’s abdomen is very shriveled
