At first I thought it was a Cryptic Orb Web Spider, but those are predominantly green.
I assume the pattern on its back will give away which one it is.

This is only a big fat guess because New Zealand has so many spiders and I am not familiar with them at all…after doing a bit of research I think it could be a diamond comb footed spider..have a look and see what you think

I think you might be right
The colors and patterns are a bit boring in comparison to these images, but they seem to match other images I’ve seen.
https://www.inaturalist.org/photos/155078307 This photo is closer in color. It looks like the correct genus. There are white posterior hairs on the one in your photo. This family, Theridiidae, can be difficult to ID to the specific species. “Species” comes from the word “specific,” actually. “Genus” comes from “general.”
