Comments & ID Thoughts
Burrow-living wolf spider (Hogna genus). It's tough to make a definitive ID from this photo, but it's a great shot of a mama carrying her babies on her back. Not gonna lie, all those squirming babies freaked me out a little, but I figured you all here would appreciate it!

We do appreciate it. Very much so. 🙂
What really freaks people out is when they startle a mother and 100 baby spiders jump off of her. 🙂 If you shine a flashlight on mom and babies in the dark, all of their eyes glow ( eyeshine).
We have some wicked cute photos of baby spiders. My favorite is of startled baby Wolf Spiders trying to hide under their mother. Some of the babies are clinging to her legs, away from the camera, and are peeking around her legs like shy little children.
Hope you see her again when her babies are on their own.
