Brown Widow (Latrodectus geometricus). I was convinced this was a Black Widow, but my wife works with a PhD who specializes in spiders at the University of Florida, and he confirmed that it is in fact a Brown Widow due to the alternating light and dark banded segments on the legs. Usually Brown Widows have an abdomen that's brown and green mottled color, but sometimes they are so dark brown that it gives the illusion of being black. Also, it's not pictured here, but I saw the egg sacks of this spider, and they were white spikey spheres. The Black Widow has eggs that are white smooth spheres with no spikes.

It would be quite handy to have a spouse who works with a spider expert!
My spouse works with building construction contractors. That has its benefits too. Free advice on how to repair things or what company to hire.
