I believe it is a scorpion tail spider, but it is Australian, I am I western cape south africa , first time ever seeing it here

Yes indeed… it is likely to be Arachnura scorpionoides;..as far as i can find…the only species present in SA. They have been recorded in the Western Cape, Eastern Cape, KZN, Limpopo, Mpumalanga, and North West.
Thei “tail” can be moved by the spider ….bending it downwards or upwards, and sometimes holding it straight. It appears that the spider curls the tail over her back when disturbed. They string their egg sacs together, similar to tent-web spiders
