Unsure. Redish underbelly with a white stripes on the back. False widow?

It isn’t a false widow. It is on an orb type web. I think it may be a lesser garden spider in the genus Metellina

I asked ChatGPT how to tell these spiders apart, and considering the time of observation, it’s more likely to be Metellina mengei.
Most observations of Metellina segmentata occur in September, while Metellina mengei is usually seen in May or April.
True. But it isn’t foolproof.
Some of the ventral patterns, the light part may be like parentheses, brackets, bars in the corners etc. Usually consistant within genus.
