Comments & ID Thoughts
I believe this is a juvenile male, based on the size and the pedipalps. Reddish-brown cephalothorax and bands on his legs. Black abdomen with possible lighter, whitish bands. Found in my dining room running across the floor, but was hungry and thirsty (eating a springtail in the image, and greedily drank from a small section of wet paper towel). My best guess so far is Castianeira longipalpa (https://spiderid.com/spider/corinnidae/castianeira/longipalpa/) based on the time found and the apparent age.

He’s about 1/4-inch long, including legs. So, if he is an ant-mimic, he may not be as young as I first thought.
We also have a wooded area behind the house, so he may have wandered away from an ant colony back there.
I agree with your ID.
Thanks for the quick reply! I’ll probably have the boys look for whatever ant colony he wandered away from and release him close by if possible!
That would be cool
Either way, I’ll be certain to let him go somewhere that gives him a good chance at survival! He’s a cool little guy
Thank you for talking care of him. I like seeing spiders drink water. I didn’t know they could do that before I started volunteering on this site.
