The picture isn’t great, but I can’t get this little guy (or gal) to come out for a better shot. It’s been living in a crevice under one of the upper pieces of a leg to my pool. It looks very interesting, and I’ve been hyper curious about spiders ever since the influx of black widows in my yard started over the last year.

It’s in the same family as Black Widows. I saw a similar spider to yours with a similar egg sack this week. It is most likely to be genus Parasteatoda. They have variable stripey blotchy markings. She’s guarding her eggs. My State doesn’t have Black Widows……..yet. New York does and maybe Rhode Island. I was at a local plant nursery yesterday and they told me that they recently killed something that looked ” too Black Widowish.” I like to go to nurseries and ask. to see their coolest bug.
