Thanks! The spiders in the other pictures are black – the spider I found outside was light tan – is that still a southern house spider?
You need to post your phot of the spider you found inside. With this species, early in life they look the same, mostly blackish. As they molt to adult, males look more like your photo. Called sexual dimorphism. One key to males is the pedipalps extend forward, smaller abdomens, and lighter colors. A couple traits are the females make cribellate webs, usually in cracks and holes, and spend their life there. Male webs look the same, but mature, they leave the web and search for mates.
