what color are those markings on the cephalothorax (or, “the butt” if you don’t know what that means.)? they look kinda yellowish but the camera quality and lighting makes it hard to see. if that spider is still around, do you think you could try taking a higher quality photo? instead of standing at a distance and zooming in, try moving your phone close to the spider. that should get you a better image. hope that helps!
it was a super dark brown
the markings or the cephalothorax?
or do you mean the whole thing is a dark brown?
or are the markings just camera glint or something?
if the spider is still around a better photo would be nice.
I think this is a false black widow. completely harmless.
the abdomen was a red brown and the cephalothorax was a dark brown, had a tan marking across it and its mandibles were like “beady”
false black widow then.
it’s a male as well.
thank you so much!!
yeah they’re pretty much harmless as long as you don’t pick it up. btw I’m no expert that’s just what I can see from google. I’m sure BugmanDan will correct me, so take it with a grain of salt. also they do bite, and it’s about as painful as a bee sting, but just leave him alone and you’ll be alright.
