how big was that guy? I cant find any matches for this fella. he looks pretty large in the picture but it’s hard to tell. also please give me the size in actual measurements, not coins please. also the fact you found him in your bed is mildly terrifying lol. What is that container?
The container is a kid’s “bugcatcher” — a fairly handy device. The orange area is 2 inches across. the spider’s body is about a half inch long, maybe a bit more. Yeah. It was concerning! (fyi, this is the device:

hmmm. probably no more than a half inch…
ok thanks the picture made it look like it was massive. give me a bit.
I think this is a kind of wolf spider. I got no clue what kind specifically but that’s what Google tells me. I wouldn’t recommend touching that guy as they may bite and it may be mildly painful. also if you squish it it might explode into thousands of lil baby spiders. mostly harmless. just don’t touch it.
wolf spider makes sense for this area but it looks nothing like other wolf spiders I’ve seen. I released it well into the woods behind my house. Had no interest in handling it! I’m no expert on spider reproduction but it looked a little puffed up – maybe eggy? The color is almost like a tick. Curious.
there’s multiple types of wolf spiders. I’m sure @BugmanDan would know. the guy is a spider genius. here’s hoping he shows up out of the blue and corrects me.
