interestingly, and I just learned this, those spikes aren’t just for show. their backs are actually quite hard, like a shell.

Something cool I noticed while photographing them at night: They are blue-black underneath with white and yellow spots. The spots seem to bounce back UV light and glow a little with a bright flashlight. So, If you look up at them at night, they look like the night sky and stars. They’re smaller than I expected them to be.

I find it odd the only place I have found these is in Florida. Cool spiders

I’ve only seen them in Florida and South Carolina…..maybe because those are the only southern states I’ve hunted spiders in.
