I relocated this spider to another ficus bush three bushes down. Its web was way too large for our entire patio. I thought I noticed some iridescent greens and blue outside, but I don't see these colors in this photo.

An orchard spider, Leucauge venusta. colorful spiders
jobrien, It’s difficult to photograph the way these spiders look. It’s a shame, there are dozens of them on my father’s property. The legs are like Jadite glass – semi translucent jade green, in bright sunlight. They look metallic black in lower lighting. The “venusta” is a reference to the goddess Venus and her mirror. The body of the spider is like an old silvered looking glass. It can look a little multicolored from the way light bounces back off of it. They’re really pretty and I have fun experimenting with trying to photograph them.
