I submitted a pic of the spider in the web, but the web is intriguing-not something I have ever seen. I thought a feather was stuck in the middle or that the spider picked up a scrap piece of netting and incorporated it in the web. But that is silly. It's not a bird after all. Then I saw one with a relatively small , mostly white spider in the web. I live near the lake, if that helps.

I think this might be what happens when the web is damaged. that’s just a guess though. I’ve seen webs like this as well.
alright so apparently some types of orb weavers do something like this, but its usually a lot smaller and in an X shape.
ok I did not see the picture with the spider in it, this is a thing orb weavers do, its so birds don’t fly into it, or to capture particularly large bugs.
