Always assumed this was some variety of "wolf" spider, but wondering if it might be a "fishing" spider instead?
Body was a bit less than 1.25" in length and spread of legs was roughly 3" x 5".

I think it looks more like a fishing spider too, especially with that rather odd leg pose. I think it could possibly be a Dark Fishing Spider, Dolomedes tenebrosus?
Nice photo of a Dolomedes tenebrosus. A dark fishing spider. A nice ID feature is that black “Hilton logo” at the face.
Now I’m going to think of “Hilton logo” every time I see one. 🙂
It is a good association, but not a key to ID.
