Comments & ID Thoughts

Found this little guy in my finished basement. It was in a room full of computer equipment, keeping it quite warm, 77f at the time I found them.

I had to cup it to get it away from a place where it was in danger of being sucked into a computer's fan. As I approached it, it moved very rapidly, but then had to pause for long moments where I could slowly surround it with the cup and get it with the paper. Some spiders can climb the inside of this cheap chinet disposable cup, but this one could not. But it had no problem climbing the drywall of the room.

I found no web, and the ruler shows its size. Its legs were spread out, except for when I began approaching it with a cup.

I took just a moment to photograph it, then relocated it outside of my house. If I had the guess, it's a Hobo spider or a Wolf Spider, but I don't know any scientific terms and those are just guesses.

First hunch is a hobo spider, not a wolf spider. Behavior is typical for these.
