Comments & ID Thoughts
I'm pretty sure it's a hobo spider. I found it in the same house where I found several hobo spiders with a smaller abdomen. I strongly suspect this is a male.
We did find it in a web, but we're pretty sure it wasn't his web because there was a cobweb in that corner and it walked into it. I pulled the cobweb off when I had it in my plastic spider-catching tub with a pair of tweezers without hurting the spider further.
It looks like maybe it got in a fight with another spider. It's down to seven legs. That happened before we caught it.
We found it in a corner next to a sink in a bathroom. Not really in the sink, but very close. The spider was safely transferred to the backyard where other spiders go when they're caught inside.

The angle we chose for the photo does not show it in the z dimension clearly, but I think if laid out flat the spider would be over three inches long.
Too big for a hobo spider, your little friend is a giant house spider, close cousin to hobo.
Eratigena duellica.

That is entirely plausible. These look so similar. I will do some reading up and get a good look at the eye pattern and spinerretes next one I see.
