Nice picture!!! These guys are common in southern states for the warm climate and jungle regions. This is a Florida orb spider, and their bite is really rare. Like if you had one on your arm there’s a low chance it’d bite you, and even if it did, the venom is super low, so you wouldn’t be too affected. I live quite near Louisiana and every year I get a garden spider that looks very similar to this, but the bright and colorful spiders are almost always orb weavers and therefore are nonagressive.
What do u mean orb weaver and for some reason down south Louisiana we call them banana spiders
Hi, the species is Nephila clavipes, it is a golden silk weaver spider. They are in many warm parts of the world and have lots of common names including ,”banana spider.” Orb (circular) web weaver spiders are in family Aranidae. This is one of them.
