I THINK this is a male Phidippus regius. Unfortunately, it was immobilizing a beautiful giant swallowtail caterpillar. Fortunately, though, the caterpillar won't be eating my tangelo tree anymore. This spider was seen last night on a young tangelo a couple branches from the caterpillar. This morning, they were both found in the pine straw below. Love the smiley face!
