Comments & ID Thoughts

I have no idea what this spider is, I have zero knowledge when it comes to 8 leg crawly things. I apologize for killing it :(

I was sleeping and I must’ve rolled over because my wife screamed and told me to move and I didn’t even realize it but this little spider was on my pillow and I almost rolled my face onto it. I am deathly afraid of spiders all sizes, big and small so if this little thing bit me in the face while asleep I may have never been able to sleep again. We spray our house monthly so how this guy made it upstairs and into our bed is beyond me. Please help me identifying this spider so I can sleep again :(

It’s a harmless crab spider, probably a Xysticus spp.

I agree. They look and walk like crabs. Even if your face squished against it and it bit you in self-defense it wouldn’t hurt much, a little pinch. Thank you for apologizing for killing it. I’ve killed some little spiders reactively because they were biting me. It happens. Overall, I risk the toxins in a bug over the toxins in a container of insecticide.
