They are slightly venemous, but a bite would rarely hurt worse then a bee sting. If a bite does occur then just wash it out with soap and water.
That being said, they rarely bite humans unless provoked and are pretty docile.

It could actually help to get rid of other less-friendly spiders later on.
Chances are if it has already built its web then it’s not going to go anywhere. If it’s in an inconvenient spot then you could always try to relocate it (safely, of course).
