I think I’ve just captured a similar spider in Marpole, Vancouver.
My camera is not good and the spider is kinda bolty
They’re fairly common in rolled leaves on low vegetation in open or semi-open areas. As you say, they’re hard to photograph as they don’t like remaining still after being disturbed.
