I have no idea what kind of spider this is..she was just sitting comfortably in her ginormous web..the web was not against any walls, bushes, etc; it was wide open and beautifully spun... my guess is maybe a garden type spider-ess..

Hi, yes she’s a garden spider AKA/orb weaver. She’s a little unusual looking. She has the ventral markings of Argiope aurantia (black and yellow garden spider) and legs like the Nephila genus, and she has something weirdly shaped about her dorsum- the big tan part behind her. I think this is why you posted this in July and nobody has had an identification for you. Like you mentioned, her behavior of being so obvious and visible is strange too.
