The leaf in the photo is about 3-4" long for scale. She lives under the eave right outside my bedroom window. She's big, and her web is impressive and very strong.

Hi, this is a really odd position for this spider. She’s a black and yellow banded orbweaver (without the black and yellow), Argiope aurantia.
Acanthepeira stellata is my new opinion. I looked at the photo again and noticed the projections that Argiope aurantia doesn’t have. Another photo from Vermont of a star-bellied orbweaver was posted that led me to look at yours again.
