Picture of unidentified spider

Comments & ID Thoughts

A bad quality photo, I know, but I needed it for a project. Anyway, the webs spun by the spider were wide, and often spanned across trees (attached to one tree on either side of the path I was following). Also, the spider itself was roughly the size of a penny U.S.) (a bit bigger, I think, though my recollection might be off). The photo was taken in Northern Alabama at around 11:00, (a.m) and there were numerous others of the same species around the same area. The spider wasn't photographed in its web, but that's only because I ran face-first into its web. It never touched me, so I'm not aware if its biting capability. I scooped it up and placed it on the folder I was carrying with me. Furthermore, the photo was taken along an outdoor path, in the woods, but fairly close to a man-made building, if that factors into anything. Thanks for any help
