Macrathena spider. July 27, 2018. Monitoring Native Bee Huts in our 90 acre park and these spiders were everywhere. These two, the reddish and the black were found crawling on the edge of my box of supplies for monitoring. I thought at first they were male and female. Now I think they are two different species of Macrathena. The rest I saw were in their webs. All were in the forest.
