Comments & ID Thoughts

Dark Fishing Spider. We see dock spiders on our lake dock all the time. This one startled me while picking blueberries (see the cluster of blueberries below it for scale). Keeping an eye(s) on its eggs???

Thanks for mentioning this. Other users have said their photos have come out rotated 90 degrees. I haven’t seen a dark fishing spider in foliage like this. They carry their eggs with them in a sack underneath their bodies. They hunt and travel that way. It looks difficult to do.
